All about Me! Hi! I will be teaching First Grade for the 2009-2010 school year. I have been teaching kindergarten and/or first grade at AWE for 7 years. First grade is not new to me! Before coming to AWE, I was a first grade teacher for 6 years.
My name is Mrs. Brenna Hamric. The picture above is a picture of me and Mrs. Tripp, Mrs. Foley, and Mrs. Blair (I am the "big mouse in the middle). I am married and have five dogs. I am a long time resident of Havelock. I was born at Cherry Point Naval Hospital on July 29, 1971.
School Experience:
I was very fortunate to spend all of my school years in Havelock. I attended Kindergarten-5th grade at AWE in 1976-82! It was called West Havelock Elementary at that time. I was a student in room 5 for kindergarten and I now teach First Grade in room 6. I even have some of the blocks (for my blocks center) that came from room 5 when I was a student in kindergarten! NEAT HUH!
I graduated from Havelock High School in 1989.
I graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Elementary Education in 1995.
I am a National Board Certified teacher. My certificate is in Early Childhood. (What is National Board Certification? click on the link below.) I will be going through the re-certification process this school year!
I have a Master's Degree in School Administration from East Carolina University. I am a certified Curriculum Specialist from ECU also.
I have been teaching Kindergarten and/or First Grade in Craven County for over 14 years!
I am AWE's Performance Improvement Council (The Cabinet) co-facilitator for the 2009-2010 school year.
My Values and Beliefs:
My motto is "T.E.A.M." which means, "Together Everyone Achieves Much!" I believe in teamwork!
Collaboration is the key to success!
I am a very flexible person.
I am a teacher that believes ALL students can achieve!
I believe that I am here for the students and the parents. Use me as your resource to your child's learning. I am always glad to help.
I am a bubbly person.
I am very outgoing too!
I am very enthusiastic about teaching and learning.
I believe in making learning fun.
Hobbies:
My favorite thing to do is to TEACH young children! Teaching is my hobby and I really love it.
I love watching football. I love ECU football.

We dated 10 years before we got married in 1997. We have known each other for over 20 years! He was raised by a wonderful family in Newport, NC.
My husband and I moved in with my father in Ketner Heights. My father has had many strokes in the past and it just "made sense" that Mike and I move in with him. We now own Pop's house. He didn't want any more bills!
