PDSA P-PLAN D-DO S-STUDY A-ACT. PDSA is all about Students and Teachers learning about their learning. It's like Metacognition; Thinking About Your Thinking. This method of instruction and learning evaluates the tools, stratagies, techniques and (of course) results of the learning system in place in the classroom. You've heard the expression, "if it ain't broke...don't fix it." Well, in PDSA we're constantly "fixin'" it to make it better. Shown here is our PDSA chart; changed weekly or in sinc with the lesson.

Bluebird Nesting Box Update! We have 4 active nesting boxes on campus. We have seen examples of competition for habitat and resources. A pair of Sparrows fought off a pair of Bluebirds for the right to next in the box outside our window. This is an example of "carrying capacity" and "limiting factors" in an ecosystem. The Science classes build new nesting boxes each year. Some are placed on campus and some are sent home to place in our communities.

CURRENT EVENTS- Go Green
As part of our participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program; the 5th grade students conduct 2 Go-Green Clean Up days each year; one in the fall and one in the spring. During our last clean up we estimated that we picked up approximately 25 kilograms of waste (that's 55 lbs. for those of you who are mathematically challenged.)

Internet LINKS to use from home. Click HERE for Internet LINKS to use from home! This link will take you to a great site called iKeepBookmarks. There you will find a variety of other links to FREE and FUN websites that offer instruction and practice in all academic areas (plus some!). These websites have been researched and endorsed through the State Department of Instruction and made available to me through a Technology Fellow at the Teacher Training Institute, Raleigh. We will use some in class to support our math and science curriculum. Other links will become available as the year progresses.
