Please help keep the students and staff of GCF healthy by following these guidelines:
Please keep your child(ren) home when the following symptoms are present:
*Temperature greater than 100 degrees *Nausea, Vomiting, or Diarrhea *Red & watery eyes with drainage *Severe headache
An ill child should NOT return to school until:
*There has been no temperature elevation for 24 hours. *There has been no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours. *Your child has been on antibiotics for 24 hours,(strep, pink eye, impetigo, etc.) *He/she is symptom free for 24 hours.
Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
Medications: We encourage administration of medicine before and after school whenever possible. However, if your Licensed Health Care Provider decides it is necessary for your child to receive a medication given by school personnel during the school day, we must have an Authorization for Medication Form completed by both the Licensed Health Care Provider and the parent. Both the Licensed Health Care Provider and the parent must complete a new form any time the medication or dosage is changed. The medication to be given must be sent to school in the original container in which it was purchased. School personnel will give no medication until the above requirements are met. This is to protect your child from injury. We accept no responsibility for students who self medicate.
Immunizations: All students must be in compliance with NC Immunization Law (GS130A-152) within 30 days after enrollment in school. Any student not in compliance after 30 days will be suspended until proof of compliance is received in the school. This is the parent's responsibility. All 6th graders need a TDAP booster before entering school.
Vision screenings are conducted in the fall for 7th grade students. Teachers and parents may also request vision screening for students.
Hearing screening are conducted at the request of teachers or parents.
Height, Weight, and BMI (Body Mass Index) screenings are conducted for 6th grade students in the spring. If you do not wish for your child to participate please send a a note to your child's teacher.
