~TEACHER BACKGROUND~
My name is Bailey Graham. My family and I moved here from southeast Michigan in 2007. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2006 with a degree and certification in K-12 Cognitive Impairment and K-5 General Elementary Education. I am North Carolina certified in K-12 Mental Disabilities, K-12 Adaptive Curriculum, and K-5 General Elementary Education as well. I have dedicated my life to serve students with special needs and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with my students every day. |

~CLASS GOALS~
In this class, students will learn the skills needed in order for them to live more independent lives. Skills include: ~Daily Living Skills such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, and survival skills. ~Functional Math such as telling time and working with money. ~Functional Receptive Language such as reading signs, menus, and product labels. ~Functional writing such as filing out job applications with personal information. ~Job skills such as paper shredding, doing laundry, washing dishes, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, wiping tables, vaccuuming, etc. ~Fine motor skills such as working with art supplies and doing puzzles. ~Group Leisure skills such as playing card games together. ~Social skills to learn to interact appropriately with others. ~Adaptive Physical Education to develop gross motor skills and interact with students in general education. ~North Carolina Grade Level Extended Content Standards in the areas of Math, Science, and Language Arts. |

*** NEW DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE 2011/2012 SCHOOL YEAR!!**
~NEW CLASSROOM~
We have a new classroom! It is the T-1 trailer across the street from our old classroom! This will be our classroom used for teaching our students academics.
~NEW APARTMENT~
Our old classroom, Room 901, is now our Life Skills Apartment! This apartment setting will be used to teach various daily living skills in a natural environment!
~NEW OUTDOOR SENSORY AREA~
We now have the beginnings of an outdoor sensory play area! This area will contain rocking chairs and porch swings to meet our student's sensory needs. It will also contain picnic tables to eat meals, read, etc. out in the sunshine! ***IF YOU HAVE ANY OUTDOOR ITEMS YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO MAKE THIS AREA GROW BIGGER AND BETTER, WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!!***
~PAES LAB~ HHS now has a hands-on work lab for our students to learn real job skills in the areas of: •Business / Marketing •Construction / Industrial •Processing / Production •Consumer / Service

~"STOPLIGHT" BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT PLAN~
1. Green Light- Student Following procedures, Great Job! 2. Yellow Light- Student isn't following procedures, recieves Verbal Warning, Reminder of Classroom Procedures. 3. Red Light- Student still isn't following procedures, recieves Time Out, Loss of Priviledges for free choice time. |
