Spelling List and PPT for Poetry Unit Week Two Click Here for weekly spelling PPT Language Arts: Our focus this and next week will be Poetry Week #2. Students will not have spelling words for the unit, but they will have vocabulary words. Students will be responsible for memorizing and saying a poem for each of the two weeks. They are still reading AR books.
Vocabulary: 1. concrete poem: A poem written with words that make a shape. 2. free verse: A poem written in free verse does not follow a pattern of rhyme or rhythm. 3. limerick: A humorous five-line poem in which the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme, as do the shorter third and fourth lines. 4. haiku: A Japanese poem that has three lines of five, seven, and five syllables.
