Dear Parents, We are so pleased that your child will be joining us for the upcoming school year. We understand that this may be a difficult time especially for those who have never sent a child off to school. We take extra time throughout the day to assist and nurture the children especially during breakfast and lunch.
Over the years there have been many studies released to the public about the importance of proper nutrition and how it affects a child's ability to perform well in school. Therefore, we encourage all children to participate in our Child Nutrition Program which currently consists of breakfast and lunch.
All Kindergarten children will receive a free breakfast daily. We encourage you to have your child to take part in this program. We have heard feedback from many parents that it reduces the stressful mornings of children not ready to eat when they awake, the limited time to get everyone ready before it is time for school and it has reduced the grocery bill for morning items.
Parents are welcome to eat breakfast or lunch with their children at any time. |

After July the Free and Reduced Meal Applications will be available in Craven County. Please take a moment to complete the application and return it to Child Nutrition Department at your earliest convenience. These applications are processed on a first come first serve basis and the sooner you git it in the better your chances are of having a reply back before school begins.
If you have other children that are currently enrolled in the school system, then your pre-kindergarten child will have the same status as the others for the first 30 days of school. You are required to complete an application at the beginning of each new school regardless of how many children you have in the school system. If you do not complete the application within the first 30 days, then your current status will have expired and you will be responsible for the meals purchased at the full price rate. Please do not delay in completing the aplication as soon as you receive it. The application is for your entire household and if you have other children you just enrolled, it will be necessary to complete only one application for the entire household.
Once again, we are so excited about your child beginning a new adventure in the Craven County School System. We are here to assist in any way possible.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's meals, please do not hesitate to call or stop by the cafeteria during school hours.
