Character Education
winner Virtues - Keys to Good Citizenship
Virtue Spotlight: Responsibility
Roger Bell Elementary School has begun a new program designed to foster ethical, responsible and caring young people. The program is based on the awareness and understanding of basic virtues that we all share. Each month a new virtue will be presented. A related virtue will be introduced each week that corresponds with our virtue of the month. Our entire staff will be responsible for helping the students gain an understanding of the virtue and how they may implement them in their daily lives. Teachers will use a Tally system to chart progress with the children. Those children with the most tallies will be named Students of the Month.

Top Ten Tips For Parents
Parents, please participate in this educational project with us! "As parents, we want our children to be the architects of their own character crafting, while we accept the responsiblility to be architects of the environment - physical and moral. We need to create and environment in which our chldren can develop habits of honesty, generosity, and a sense of justice. For most of us, the greatest opportunity we personally have to deepen our own character is through the daily blood, sweat and tears of struggling to be good parents. " (The Virtues Project Educucation's Guide - Linda Kavelin Popov)
